One of the leading causes of obesity and why most people keep getting fatter has to do with a little known ingredient called high fructose corn syrup. Of course, high fructose corn syrup may be one of the causes of obesity, however, it should be pointed out that it is certainly not the only reason why you are overweight. Medical tests have proved a correlation between insulin resistance and obesity exists when using high fructose corn syrup. This basically changes the metabolism of your system which eventually ends up with hormone imbalances, onset of diabetes, increased blood pressure, heart disease and of course, causes of obesity.

Causes Of Obesity: People are consuming more food than ever before!

It's no secret that you have probably heard somewhere before that people world wide are eating and consuming more food than ever before. This is something that has been steadily moving up each and every year. Also, this has nothing to do with calories or even foods associated with high levels of calories. The simple fact is that on average, people are buying and consuming more food period.

Why is that? Well, one of the leading factors is due to high fructose corn syrup. It is tied to the hormone system of your body. Basically your body has hormones that regulate the feeling of hunger and that of feeling full. In a simple explanation, high fructose corn syrup can disrupt these hormones and cause you to still feel hungry even after eating.

One area of concern and leading causes of obesity has to do with sodas, processed fruit juices, some energy drinks, and believe it or not, drinks that are considered healthy for you such as Gatorade. One of the leading ingredients in these drinks is high fructose corn syrup which is added as a sweetener. The added high fructose corn syrup will usually cause a hormonal imbalance which is simply going to send a signal to your brain that you are feeling hungry.

Now, in all fairness and as I mentioned above, high fructose corn syrup is not present in all the foods that you buy and consume, but it is still in the forefront as one of the leading causes of obesity and still ending up in many of the foods that you purchase. Let's take a look at how high fructose corn syrup is present with some of the popular foods that you might enjoy eating and can easily be attributed as one of the causes of obesity for many people. For example, a typical hamburger, whether you buy it at a fast food restaurant or make it from scratch. The hamburger itself and maybe even the bun does not contain any high fructose corn syrup, but think about what you put on the hamburger. Ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, certain varieties of mayonnaise and certain varieties of sweetened pickles. All of these added toppings have high fructose corn syrup added to them.

Another example and one that most people never even question is with salads. The leafy green and mixed vegetables are perfectly fine, but think about the salad dressing that you are using. Many of the popular processed salad dressings that you use today have added high fructose corn syrup. As well, almost every variety of store bought items such as cookies, certain varieties of crackers, processed ice cream and desserts, doughnuts, cakes, candies, almost every item that is factory processed and sweetened, fruit juices and sodas will more than likely have high fructose corn syrup added to their list of ingredients.

High fructose corn syrup is by no means the only causes of obesity today, but as more and more studies begin to unravel the truth behind some of the leading causes of obesity, you can bet that high fructose corn syrup will be mentioned more frequently.
