Serious About Weight Loss? Try These Tips

September 2, 2013

by James T. Chaweng

Everyone wants to get more fit. People resolve to lose weight at New Year's and put goals in their planners, but they don't lose weight. For some, it could be that they do not have time for it, while for others, they may just be lazy. Even if you have failed in your previous weight loss attempts, you can apply the following tips to decrease your weight and improve your health.

When trying to lose weight, perform your cardio workouts in the morning before breakfast. Research has shown that cardio done in this fashion will burn 300% more than if you did cardio at another time.

A great way to start losing weight is to start attending fitness classes at your gym. By attending classes such as yoga or pilates you'll be more motivated by all the people around you. The instructor dictates what the class does, so all you have to do is just follow along.

Join a weight loss support group such as Weight Watchers or TOPS to help you lose weight. Getting support from others who are following the same path you are on helps you to stay on track. You can also meet people at these groups who have achieved their goals, helping you realize that it is possible.

Do not forget to consult your doctor before going on any weight loss plan. Your doctor needs to confirm that there are no underlying causes for your weight gain. He can review your weight loss plan and verify that it is appropriate for you. The most important thing is that you must be healthy.

While on your weight loss journey, it is important to be patient. It's proven that those who were patient and took the weight off slowly are the ones who will keep it off in the long-run. Losing just one or two pounds a week may not sound like much, but if you want to keep it off, that is the way to go.

Take the stairs! Whether it's a single floor or quite a few, ditch the elevator. While this may seem like a very small deal, you are getting a great cardio workout if you take the stairs. Not only is this good for your health, you will lose weight. Once you are used to walking up the stairs, try running (but be careful)!

Continue eating foods you love, even sugar-filled, fattening foods, in moderation when trying to lose weight. When you completely deny yourself your favorite foods, you are more likely to end up binging. This leads to more calories eaten than if you just occasionally indulged in your favorite fattening foods.

As you can see, these tips are all simple little changes that you can easily fit into your daily life. Although they are only small things, they can make a big difference over time. By making a commitment to trying each of these suggestions, gradually you will see your weight decrease and your energy increase.
